pronunciation of сз cluster

The very rare consonant cluster сз, found in сзади and сзывать (I'm not aware of any other words), is pronounced as far as I can tell /z:/, i.e. with a long /z/ sound.
I was wondering if the same assimilation can also happen between words, e.g. in the following passages:
[он] благодарит Вас за помощь
я просила Вас зайти ко мне по делу
Через пять минут официант принёс заказ

Assuming there is no pause between the words, would <-с з-> coalesce into /z:/ ? Or perhaps into /s:/ ? I must say the latter option sounds better to me (but maybe that's because Italian has /s:/ but not /z:/).
