Levantine Arabic: غلينة

I've read that the adjective غلّينة 'calm' is only used to describe the sea. But بحر 'sea' is a masculine word. Why غلّينة is only used in the feminine form then?

The word غلّينة is not an Arabic adjective. According to one source, the word is Greek. It's probably γαλήνη (galíni)* meaning "calm, serenity".
