Hi All,

I would like to say:

لقد كنت متوسما فيك الخير كموظف جديد لكن توسمنا لم يكن في محله و خذلتني

The Context:

I would to say it to my employee in a one-to-one meeting as he didn't achieve his targets

I had high hopes for you as a new employee, but I was wrong and you’ve disappointed me.

Bosses/managers in the US aren’t usually this direct, though!

Thanks elroy. What do you suggest if I am going to say that to an English native speaker in a way that would be acceptable for him and conveys my message

I’m not sure it’s necessary for you to say this at all. Typically, a manager/boss in the US would focus on strengths and areas for improvement. Instead of saying general things like “you’ve let me down” or “you’ve disappointed me,” they would give specific feedback on what needs to be improved.
